FIPO acts on behalf of its member organisations by engaging with key external bodies, including the Competition and Markets Authority, the Independent Healthcare Providers Network and the Private Healthcare Information Network. Through this representative role, we ensure that the perspectives and expertise of independent practitioners are clearly communicated and considered.

We support and strengthen the independent sector by:

  • Providing and supporting continuing professional development
  • Contributing to medical governance frameworks
  • Representing members in regulatory, commercial and indemnity matters
  • Publishing professional guidance and position statements
  • Promoting and maintaining high standards of professionalism

Through this work, FIPO supports both clinicians and patients, and advances the principles set out in our Patient’s Charter for the benefit of all who rely on independent healthcare services.
