Federation of Independent Practitioner OrganisationsSupporting Independent Specialists. Caring for Private Patients.
ABOUT FIPO
FIPO brings together specialist medical organisations, uniquely providing a unified forum representing doctors who deliver specialist medical care in the UK private health sector.

Why FIPO
FIPO exists to protect, promote, and strengthen medical professionalism in private practice — for the benefit of patients.
Founded in 2000 by specialists, for specialists, FIPO brings together doctors committed to clinical excellence and professional integrity. This becomes even more important at a time when the doctor-patient relationship is under pressure.
Who we represent
FIPO represents a federation of medical specialist organisations with an interest in expert consultant-led care delivered in the UK private sector. Our member organisations span a wide range of medical disciplines and share a commitment to high-quality care, patient safety, and protecting the integrity of the doctor-patient relationship.
FIPO provides and supports continuing professional development, engages in medical governance, provides representation for its members in regulatory, commercial and indemnity matters, publishes guidance and position statements, and maintains standards of professionalism among its members.
FIPO does not represent individual doctors, nor do we assist patients in finding a private consultant. However, doctors with questions or concerns about private practice are welcome to contact us, and we can offer guidance or signposting.
