FIPO attended the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) AGM at which it was reported it is on track to deliver its transparency programme to the satisfaction of the CMA by June 2026. In simple terms, this means patients will be able to see clear, comparable information about private healthcare — including consultant fees and key outcomes — to help them make informed choices.
For consultants, PHIN promises both visibility and opportunity. Pricing and selected performance information will be publicly available, the PHIN portal acting potentially as a marketing tool, showcasing their expertise and special interests. Consultants are urged to keep their profiles accurate and up to date.
Looking ahead, PHIN has plans to link private and NHS data to build a fuller picture of patient care across the health system. Used well, this joined-up data could help improve services and outcomes for everyone.
FIPO is monitoring and contributing perspectives to these developments. We attend PHIN’s monthly meetings and regularly raise issues that directly affect consultants, ensuring specialist voices are heard as these transparency measures are put into practice.
Our focus is simple: to support consultants through these changes, promote fairness, and help ensure that information shared with the public is accurate, meaningful, and useful.
